Ohana Cafe in quaint little Ozona Florida has hula dancers performing on Fridays throughout the summer months and I do recommend calling in advance for reservations since the place is jumping on Friday and Saturday nights.
This great cafe is also a wonderful destination for either breakfast or lunch and it is my general meeting place on Friday at around 11 am. I have a standing date with a good friend (who I actually met when she and her significant other were searching for a home in the area). We discuss our week and sample something different each time we are there. The cafe is family owned and operated, with both mom and dad in the kitchen while Teresa runs everything and her brother helps in the kitchen as well. The family is actually from Hawaii, hence the name Ohana (which means family in Hawaiian). Mom makes the best gluten free cupcakes, cookies and pies. I have ordered some wonderful pies to pick up for our house on special holidays! Who can resist something that tastes wonderful and is gluten free as well?
The trend continues for more and more local cafes and restaurants to offer gluten free and organic dishes but little Ohana Cafe has been doing this for years already! Perhaps that is why it is so popular with the locals. I also recommend this fantastic destination to clients and love giving them gift cards as closing gifts so that new clientele come to this laid back little restaurant on Orange Street in Ozona.
By the way, the salad above is one of my favorites! It is spinach salad with cranberries and almonds. I always ask for a side of pineapple to be added. It is absolutely fantastic!
